Installation of Mobile device portal is quiet simple on a system, without going in details you can certainly go through the below link which is a very comprehensive step by step description on installation.

Once the component has been installed, you need to login the portal via WORK user , which is setup within AX.

Workuser1

You can also change the password of the selected work user.

So now login via work user , based on server and port number you have setup. In my case I have setup below

http://localhost:8080/

Issue:

One issue I have faced after the component has been successfully installed is that of when entering the url on the web-browser I got the error of

ErrorOnLogin1

On further digging I have found out the below description of the issue from event viewer.

Exception information:

Exception type: ConfigurationErrorsException

Exception message: Unrecognized attribute ‘targetFramework’. Note that attribute names are case-sensitive. (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Warehouse Mobile Devices Portal\00\web.config line 19)

Which means, the ‘targerFarmework’ attribute .net version value on the webconfig value is mismatching the version set on the application pool.

TargetFramework set to – v4

.Net Framework version set to – v2

Below screen shot gives you the clear understanding ,that I have taken from IIS Application pool

TargetVersion

After updating the .Net framework version to v4 and Managed pipline mode to ‘Classis’ I was able to successfully able to open the portal.
